Trademark & IP Protection

Protect the name before you build around it.

A company can be incorporated, a domain acquired and a brand launched without the trademark position being properly organised.

Trustlic helps clarify ownership, plan markets, coordinate searches and applications, and maintain oversight across the GCC. From Bahrain, we coordinate authorised trademark agents and legal specialists through one point of contact.

Protect the commercial asset

A registered company does not automatically mean a protected brand.

A company name, commercial registration, domain name and trademark serve different purposes. Before formal applications begin, the commercial facts and the intended ownership should be clear.

  • What name, logo or brand element needs protection?
  • Who owns it now and who should own it?
  • Which goods or services will use it?
  • Which markets matter now and during expansion?
  • Will the brand be licensed, franchised or shared within a group?
Trustlic organises these questions before the formal application work is placed with the appropriate specialist.

What Trustlic coordinates

Protection starts with ownership. It continues with organised records.

Trademark work is more useful when it follows the commercial plan. We connect ownership, markets, classifications, providers and continuing portfolio administration.

Searches reduce uncertainty; they do not guarantee registration or eliminate every possible conflict.
01

Ownership & brand-readiness review

Clarify the assets, owner and commercial position before formal work begins.

  • Brand name and logo inventory
  • Applicant and ownership information
  • Existing company, domain and trademark records
  • Founder-owned assets that may need to be transferred
  • Assignment coordination where required
02

Search & clearance coordination

Coordinate appropriate searches and specialist review so the client can understand relevant risks before filing or investing further.

  • Identical and similar name searches
  • Logo and visual-mark searches
  • Relevant national and international databases
  • The intended goods and services
  • Potential conflicts requiring legal assessment
03

Market & classification planning

Build the protection plan around where the brand will trade and what it will offer.

  • Goods and services to be covered
  • Relevant trademark classes
  • Word, logo or combined applications
  • Priority markets and phased filing
  • National or available international routes
04

Application & provider coordination

Keep documents, decisions and communication connected while the authorised specialist performs the formal work.

  • Application preparation and filing
  • Provider and official-fee coordination
  • Application confirmations and reference numbers
  • Examination, publication and opposition periods
  • Certificate and final-record coordination
05

Renewals & portfolio administration

Create a clearer record of registrations and continuing actions as the business changes.

  • Renewal dates and provider instructions
  • Owner names and addresses
  • Transfers and assignments
  • Licence records
  • Certificates and status records
  • Portfolio visibility across jurisdictions
  • Updates following a restructuring
06

Licensing & commercial use

Coordinate the commercial and specialist work when a brand will be used by a licensee, franchisee, distributor or related company.

  • Commercial-use and party mapping
  • Ownership and permission records
  • Specialist document coordination
  • Connected company and portfolio updates
07

Disputes & enforcement referral

Organise the information and evidence, then coordinate an appropriately qualified legal specialist when a potential conflict or unauthorised use arises.

  • Initial information and record collection
  • Evidence and timeline organisation
  • Specialist appointment coordination
  • Communication and progress follow-up

When clients call us

A valuable brand often grows faster than its records.

The need may arise before launch, during GCC expansion, after a restructuring or when a possible conflict appears.

01

A new brand is preparing to launch

The company wants to organise ownership, searches, classes and priority markets before investing heavily in the name and identity.

02

An international company is entering the GCC

The group needs a coordinated plan for the markets that matter, while each national application is handled through the appropriate route.

03

A business is expanding beyond its original country

The existing registration may not cover a new GCC market, new activity or broader commercial plan.

04

The founder owns the mark personally

Ownership may need to be reviewed and coordinated before investors, licensing, restructuring or a sale.

05

The current classes no longer fit the business

The company has added products or services and needs specialist review of its current protection.

06

The name, owner or company structure has changed

Portfolio records may need to be updated so ownership and official information remain connected.

07

The brand will be licensed or franchised

The parties, ownership, permitted use and specialist documentation need to be organised before commercial use begins.

08

A similar name or logo has been found

The company needs a qualified assessment and an organised record of the facts, use and relevant evidence.

09

The portfolio is scattered across providers

Management needs one view of countries, registrations, owners, renewal dates, documents and next actions.

Clarify the asset. Confirm the owner. Plan the markets before filing begins.

One region. Six national decisions.

Protection should follow the commercial plan.

There is no single GCC trademark registration that automatically protects a brand in all six countries. The plan depends on the owner, existing registrations, intended markets, goods and services, budget and timetable.

Trustlic coordinates one regional plan while each national or available international route is handled by the appropriately authorised specialist.

Frequently asked questions

Organise the questions before choosing the filing route.

These answers provide general orientation. The appropriate protection and filing plan depends on the facts, markets and specialist review.

01Is registering a company name the same as registering a trademark?

No. A company or commercial name, domain name and trademark are different records with different purposes. Incorporating a company does not automatically create trademark protection.

02Does a Bahrain trademark registration protect the brand across the GCC?

No. Protection is national. A Bahrain registration does not automatically extend to the other GCC countries.

03Should the trademark be registered in all six GCC countries?

Not necessarily. The plan should reflect current and intended markets, commercial importance, ownership, goods and services, budget and timing. Trustlic helps organise a practical priority plan.

04Should a search be completed before filing?

A search can provide useful visibility before filing and before further investment in a brand. Trustlic can coordinate the search; any formal legal clearance opinion is provided by a qualified specialist.

05Does a clear search guarantee registration?

No. A search reduces uncertainty but cannot guarantee acceptance, registration or the absence of every possible conflict. Each authority examines the application under its applicable rules.

06How are trademark classes chosen?

Classes relate to the goods and services for which the mark will be used. The commercial brief comes first; the appointed specialist then confirms the appropriate classification and filing scope.

07Should the name and logo be filed separately?

They may need separate applications because a word mark and a visual mark protect different elements. The appropriate approach depends on the assets, use, budget and specialist advice.

08Can an application be filed before the brand launches?

It may be possible and often helps a business organise protection earlier. The appointed specialist confirms local requirements and the appropriate filing position.

09How long does trademark registration take?

Timing varies by jurisdiction, application and authority review. Trustlic can provide a practical estimate based on the route, but authority or third-party timing cannot be guaranteed.

10Can Trustlic coordinate an existing trademark portfolio?

Yes. We can help organise registrations, owners, providers, documents, renewal dates and next actions across relevant jurisdictions.

11What happens if another business is using a similar name or logo?

An appropriately qualified specialist should assess the facts and available options. Trustlic can organise the relevant records and evidence, coordinate the appointment and follow the process.

12Can an international filing route be used?

An international route may be available depending on the owner, home application or registration and intended countries. Each designated country still examines the application under its own requirements.
